So I decided this past week that I had off I would stay around NYC... I have gone on enough trips in the last 2 months including Mumbai, Miami, and Chicago, that I figured a Staycation was in order. Plus I figured I would enjoy some summer fun in NYC, and I also had to attend a couple of weddings here too... I also had just flew back from a "conference" in Miami on last Thursday before the "real" vaca started, so that was a vacation in itself (a great time by the way). So I was a little worn out and pretty broke. So I figured some nice days hanging in central park, meeting friends for lunch, browsing the streets of NY, hitting some museums, checkin out the rooftop bars, and enjoying some weekday nights out seemed to be in order....
Of course everyday of my vacation, it rained. And I mean every single day. There was no sun, only rain. WTF? It is freakin May! How can it rain every single day of the week?? To top it off, I dropped my iPhone 4, and it fell right on the sidewalk (even though there was grass everywhere else). Of course the bumper wasn't on it this particular moment. The glass face screen completely shattered. Great. And I just had the damn thing replaced with my "one time free replacement" for some little etch marks on the sides. Wonderful. Then on the last day of my vacation, my car was parked on the street, and of course I did not see some temporary sign on the tree indicating there was consruction that day. I was luckily walking by the street Friday night at like 3am to get pizza after a night out, and I noticed the street was empty. No cars. Turns out they towed my damn car! I spent the early next morning making 5 different phone calls to the city to realize they had relocated it 3 blocks away. By the time I got to it, I had a parking ticket for an expired meter they had left it at. Just my luck
Now alas, my bummer of a staycation is over, and it is back to work. And I have to find a cheap way to get the iPhone fixed. Two people have told me I should get a cute girl to go to the apple store and jus start crying and they will replace it for free.... I wonder if I could pull that off myself????
lol, hoping that you had better luck securing a new phone then I did. Despite my efforts to sob on cue, my mission was unsuccessful. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I was heaving and struggling to catch my breath while fat tears rolled down my cheeks leaving a trail of black mascara in their wake. There is no such thing as overacting. But as a seasoned veteran now, just remember to "cry pretty". haha.
Anyhow, sorry to hear that you had a terrible staycation - randomly stumbled across your blog and have found it rather compelling to read about these issues/cases from a doctor's perspective. Definitely breaks down some prejudices that I didn't even realized I had formed! :)

Yeah, when you're in NYC, rooftop bars should be number one in your go-to list. So how did you find the bars? I'm glad you had a great time in your 'staycation'. =)
