Is there not some sort of statute of limiations on Parking tickets?
So my Dad calls me the other day and says he got some notice for overdue Parking tickets by the City of Cambridge, MA addressed to me that got mailed to the house. Boston? When was the last time I was there? It must have been a few years back at least. And why is that going to my parent's house? I haven't used that adress or even registered my car there since college! So turns out these tickets are dated April of 2000! ... Seriously? That was 12 years ago. You really want me to pay this? My real question is, what took so long for them to send me a notice about it? It' s the first I'm hearing of it! In fact there is not even a late fee. So does that mean Boston is so kicked back it doesn't pursue late parking tickets until 12 years after they are due? If this was New York City, you would have accrued late fees totalling $20,000, and you would be wanted for a felony.
I could probably fight this just because it is ridiculous, but I'll never have the resilience or the patience to go through with it. I'll pay 'em the damn $60...
whhhhhhat?
That's outrageous. I guess Boston's motto must be "better late then never".

President Obama found himself in a similar situation!! And of course there wouldn't be any SLs when the gov't is getting money, better late than never :-)
